Hey mama!! Motherhood is no joke right? Then you put work, owning your business, running a brand and a whole bunch of other stuff on top of that. You have a real party don’t you!?
One thing that motherhood really does need to run smoothly, is a tribe. And the thing about a tribe is it doesn’t have to be a huge gang. It can be 2 or 3 ladies, who lean upon one another and support one another.
I recently had the beautiful opportunity to be part of a event that happened here in Dallas. And guess what?! It focused on MOTHERHOOD. Im sorry but there are alot of events out there and not many of them focus on this. I mean you have your Wellness events (where everybody and their mama is working out like crazy) Then you have your plethora of millennial events that (#sorrynotsorry) have the same people sharing the same stories and not really showing any struggle or inspiration. Yet speaking on entrepreneurship, success and running a business. There is so many of the above here in Dallas, it is exhausting. So when I saw that HeyMama was coming to Dallas. Better yet when HeyMama reached out to me-I jumped on that train! And so glad I did.
Who & What is HeyMama?
HeyMama is the most badass league of mom-bosses you know. Whether they are advisors, executives, founders, or CEOs, our application-based membership provides support, connection, and collaboration for working mothers at every life stage.
The Challenge:
75% of expecting mothers say that they are excited to go back to work after giving birth, yet 43% of them end up leaving the workforce. This comes at a high cost to their careers, the companies they worked for,and the business landscape at large.
The Solution:
HeyMama seeks to build an ecosystem of working mothers who collaborate and empower one another to become the decision-makers around their work, life and family.
You know what I really did enjoy about the HeyMama event? The diversity of the event-was so dope. There are so many events lately that do not embrace diversity. When you look at panels or the stage everyone looks the same, or they have the same background. I’m sorry but this is not inviting. Diversity is beautiful and even more beautiful when we embrace it in our business, brand, family, friendships & fellowship.
Ok back to HeyMama this event was amazing! The setup was very welcoming. It was intimate and intentional. It took place at our fav spot. The Riveter Dallas (oh did you hear this is where our Grow & Glow: Women’s Workshop Retreat is taking place) It was a Mama Mentor event so beforehand all those that signed up were able to submit questions they had for their mentors. And then as a mentor we were invited to answer the questions and share what has worked for you. Also how we balance motherhood, family & business all at the same time.
The group of Mamas I had was A M A Z I N G . A group filled with women of different backgrounds, race, style, shape, idea & location. All there with the soul purpose of figuring this thing called motherhood & hustle out. I can’t wait for HeyMama to be here officially. Its going to be a grand old time #duh
