All That is Possible is Real...All That is Real is Possible

IMG_7977.jpeg

These words have stuck with me since my recent stay at Halls Art Hotel. Developed by HALL Group, HALL Arts Hotel is an art-forward boutique hotel in the vibrant Dallas Arts District. Last weekend was a busy weekend for my little family and I. We opened our very Little Plant Shop in Uptown…and we thought it was the perfect time to throw a little stay-cation in. Nothing is wrong with mixing a little business with pleasure. And let’s just say-I am so glad we did.

Carlos & I stay at many hotels here in Dallas. Stay-cations are my jam-I must say I am a pro at them. What makes it even more fun, most of the time we have one night where the twins can come hang. It’s safe to say they are Hotel Babies all the way. I am asked on many occasions, “Are we Staying at The Hotel?'“

Meet Hall Arts…..

IMG_7966.jpeg

She is a beauty…and her views are more. Upon our arrival to Hall Arts Hotel, we knew we were home for the weekend. We were greeted by the beautiful site of Christmas and all the Hospitality Cheer. My first thought as I walked in, was that I was staying at an Art Museum for the weekend. It was truly a departure from the traditional expressions of luxury. It was an elevated experience that was filled with warmth and greetings from art-filled spaces.

IMG_8083.jpeg

It was also something that my Twin Boys could enjoy and appreciate. Parents please stop thinking you cannot experience luxury because you have little ones. Our evening with our boys was filled with Pizza in Bed, their own area in the living room watching all their favorite movies. And a growing love for a city they had beautiful night views of.

Room Service…

We loved our room that we had. We stayed in one of the specialty suites. The Overture Suite, located on the 10th floor with stunning views of the Arts District. The Design of the room and the amenities AMAZING.

Guys it was fancy! We had a tablet to open all our shades, drapes, lights and Television. And the tub…lets just say bath tub goals. I also loved the fact that the additional safety precautions were in place. For instance if you wanted ice, you needed to call the front desk and they brought it up right away. They also brought up Mom Juice aka Wine. So that is always a plus.

May I Take your Order..

The food. I’m just going to let the pictures do the talking for you. But for Dinner & Breakfast we had the beautiful pleasure of dining at Ellie’s Restaurant and Lounge. Let just say it was PHENOMENAL. The views, the taste, the atmosphere. Carlos & felt like were in Miami or something.

IMG_8389.jpeg

And the story behind the name, gave it even more cool points. Ellie’s was the true Art of Tradition.

Named after owner Craig Hall’s mother, Ellie was a confident trailblazer for women’s rights and was a compassionate teacher and artist who always looked for the beauty in life. One of her greatest pleasures in life was gathering friends and loved ones to share a delicious meal and spirited conversation, a communal endeavor that brought her immense joy. It is in this spirit of togetherness and joie de vivre that Ellie’s was created.

We started with the White Bean Hummus, Gulf Shrimp Skewers (that was dressed with the most amazing Sweet Chile, Cucumber Salad) Caesar Salad & Salisbury Steak Bites. For Dinner Carlos was basic and had a cheeseburger (Honestly the best cheeseburger her has ever had in his life) I had the La Brisa Short Rib,that was aged for a really really long time. But I forgot for how long because I was too busy eating it. Long story short. Don’t walk, run to Ellie’s Dallas

Breakfast was amazing too! After breakfast I had the chance to take little tour of all that Hall Arts Hotel has to offer. From the gorgeous meeting rooms, endless art & sculptures, state of the art fitness center. And of-course the rooftop pool

So you ask…

Why the Blog title, All That is Possible is Real...All That is Real is Possible. After Dinner Carlos and I like to take walks. Just to talk and catch up on life. Well we came upon this sign. And it would switch back and forth with the words. All That is Possible is Real...All That is Real is Possible. And the words were perfect.

2020 has not been easy. But it has been real. And sometimes we need the real part…to remind us that ALL that is possible. Even during the hard times.

If you get a chance, please visit Hall Arts Hotel. Fall in love with all it has to offer. Fall in love with the Arts, with Dallas, with the joy of relaxing in Luxury. I know that I sure did.

xoxo

Just Breathe….A week of Wellness

IMG_4180.jpeg

I think it is safe to say. Each one of us is in major need of unplugging. In need of a wellness retreat. A space were we wish to unwind, search within ourselves and most importantly heal.

Miraval.jpg

Gratitude can transform any situation. It alters your vibration, moving you from negative energy to positive. It’s the quickest, easiest most powerful way to effect change in your life-this I know for sure.”

Oprah

I recently had the beautiful pleasure of visiting Miraval Austin Resort. An invitation I did not take lightly. Just a few weeks before I went to Miraval. I realized I needed to unplug in a major way. I took a social media break, because honestly I was drowning. I was not putting myself first. I was pouring so much in to the community. That I forgot to pour into myself. I was on the verge of a breakdown.

This has been a very hard year for everyone. 2020 has shown the worlds true colors, while at the same time forcing us to sit down, shut-up and see. Not just look, but really see and take it all in. Ive said it before and I will say it again. This is a year each one of us needed. No matter how hard, uncomfortable or what losses we faced.

IMG_3628.jpg

Miraval was that peace I needed. It was that reset. We arrived Tuesday Morning…and although the weather wasn’t the best it was so serene. Carlos & I were greeted at the top of the hill where we were immediately escorted by a golf cart to our room. We had the Austin Suite which was perfect. It had a parlor like setup with an attached King room. It offered more space, upgraded amenities (guys we had an outdoor shower…so sexy)

After we were settled in our room we jump right into our pre-planned itinerary. We had a pretty packed one. But the beautiful thing about Miraval you can do as much as you want…or as little as you want. Of course with our visit being something to show my followers I wanted to experience as much as possible.

Adjustments.jpeg

life in balance

The best place to start of course is the spa. Miraval Spa is more then just the spa, it is a complete retreat for the mind, body, and soul. Carlos & I signed up for Signature Petal Pecan Facial, Blood Orange Pedicure/Manicure, Ginger Healer & Shamana-Karma. My favorite was the Ginger Healer This was a deep tissue massage that included wrapping my body in pure ginger rosemary oil. Followed by a Ginger Salt Glaze scrub and a hot steam shower.

The Facial was amazing as well, I fell asleep though lol, but my skin was glowing at the end. Carlos said the Blood Orange Pedicure was the best pedicure he had ever had in his life. The Spa also mentioned that more men have been signing up for pedicures & manicures ever since spas reopened.

Did you know they offer Day Packages as well for the Spa?

Culinary & Nutrition

I will be honest when I saw the words Conscious Cooking. I thought oh brother, we are about to eat rabbit food. And Carlos is going to be giving me the stank eye. But I was W R O N G. The intention of Conscious Cooking at Miraval is to do more than please the palate: It is to shape how food is viewed. The Preparation, consumption, the relationship. We were able to experience all of the above through Fresh Smoothies, Hands-on Demonstrations, Restaurant Dining, Room Services, Afternoon Snacks.

The Life in Balance Culinary Kitchen allowed us to meet Culinary Specialist Lexie Ruse. Who shared her story, passion & purpose through culinary. She hosted an amazing cocktail workshop (which we attended two) As well as the Just Cook For Me Experience which allowed us to leave with our hearts & bellies full.

The food in the Dining Room as amazing as well. The views spectacular, overlooking Lake Travis. Oh did I mention it was complimentary. YES! It is included in your stay. And I will tell you, I was not modest? I order 2—3 appetizers, 2 entrees and all the desserts. The food was A M A Z I N G, so fresh and as if you were dining at a 5 star restaurant. Every recipe harnesses the skills of Miraval’s chefs.

wellbeing….

This is the part I didn’t know how I was going to feel about. I have always been taught to stay clear of meditation and searching deep within yourself. So I will be honest I was hesitate. On our first day we jumped right into Wellness Counseling. Remember I said, you can do as much as you want or as little as you want. Miraval always give you the choice. Carlos & I took part in the LIFE, LOSS & LETTING GO. As well as Digital Mindfulness, Stress Solutions, Living a Life in Balance. Its something I believe we truly needed. It was a space where we could share our experiences, transitions and a lot of my feelings towards 2020.

There were truly so many amazing experiences. All with the goal to not necessarily forget what was going on outside of Miraval but how to deal with it properly and in a healthy manner. They had experts that guided you to create your own lasting blend of balance -- emotionally, physically, spiritually, and intellectually.

cleansing ceremony with courtney

IMG_4207.jpeg

On our very last day. We headed to a section of the resort we had not visited our entire stay. I believe we were saving the best for last. Solidago was a beautiful temple where we had the chance to experience Courtney Parnell

This ceremony was all about energetic cleansing. Where Courtney shared the story of the temple, the property. As well purifying properties of ancient plants such a Palo Santo and Sage. Which created a safe and sacred space of protection and clarity. Courtney taught me the importance of letting go to energy that no longer served me. With her custom playlist in the background.

She taught me the art of breathing, inhaling and when I let it go…to do so not lightly. But loudly with great force. At the end I was provided a take-home note-card to write to my future self. And it was powerful.

Miraval was magical. There was so much that we did. So much that you can do as well. We learned the art of archery (which made me feel like Katniss Everdeen . Sustainable Living by visiting Cypress Creek Farm where I learned the birth of a Loofa. As well as met the hens that provide the farm-to-table restaurant with fresh eggs and wander the farm. Along with Chicken Keeping & Beekeeping.

At the end of the night I laid my head down on the most magical bedding I have ever slept on in my life. I would describe it as a cloud-like sanctuary.

I could keep talking about Miraval Austin, because it is truly a magical place that each of us must experience at least once in our life. No matter what your intent—getaway with the girls, solo retreat, or escape with your soul mate it is for you. So as my gift to you. I am offering with your next stay $225 DAILY resort credits that can be used toward spa treatments or private session when visiting Miraval Austin.

BudhaGirl + The Iman Project

Budha Girl Bangles has been something I have yearned for, for a long time. I would always say to Carlos that I wanted a pair when I would see them out. It was just something that we couldn't spend our money on. But Carlos reminded me that we work so hard. We work too hard not to get the things that make us happy. I purchased my first pair of Budha Girl Bangles November 2019. It was during a rough patch for me mentally, spiritually and emotionally. My mindset & intentions changed right when I slipped them on and 9 months later I am here.... Take a peek of the BTS of something magical happening with Budha Girl.

White Women's Tears are Dangerous

IMG_4205.jpeg

They truly are…..

I started writing this blog post at 8:20am. Because of a day that took a change when I received a DM from a journalist at 10:07am. I had to stop. (But I will NOT Stop) We will get back to that part.

Now where were we? Oh yes.. White Women’s Tears are Dangerous…

“I’d love to get this episode out there soon as to not loose traction on BLM” (speaking about being on her podcast)

“I was supporting my friend who was called out because I do truly know her heart….No one else was standing up for her”

Performance Allyship is alive and R E A L. The above words are those of Beautiful Event Rentals owner Cam Petty Palmer. My response was instant to this. Even after my steady pattern of ignoring her request as a podcast guest. I said, “ I’m not a pawn to use for traction. It should never loose traction and never will. Now if it looses traction with your audience this means you are not doing something right within your brand, business and life.I ended the conversation by saying:

And this is something you should of been doing and having these conversations BEFORE it was something that was “ on trend” because I know I sure have.

Cammie immediately responded that she was sorry and of course she didn’t mean it that way. Sorry, but she meant exactly what she said.

10 weeks ago black boxes flooded Instagram feeds. Marches & Protests were heard around our City. The saying “Amplify Black Voices” “Muted, Listening & Learning” was under Influencers, Bloggers, Brands and Businesses curated pictures. Event for Change was a trend a topic that was going strong. June 2020 was the month of LEARNING & UNLEARNING. It’s now August.

IMG_4208.png

Event for Change…

June when it was cool to have these “uncomfortable conversations”I received a phone call and email from Jill the owner of Lushra. During this time Jill wanted to “open the conversation and learn from me and ask me a few questions.”

She mentioned she would love to set up a balloon installation at Klyde Warren Park that Friday to open conversation and get people to donate, but she was worried that people would think she was making it about Lushra. And she wanted my opinion on navigating this.

(Let me say, I have never had any issues with Lushra. I do not dislike them. But I do believe they need to be held accountable.)I said cool, we chatted and then she sent an email out that included myself, Dallasites 101,Leah Frazier, Kelsey Williams and a few others.

Within this email it highlighted each person involved- strength. Under my name it said: Your voice and platform in the black community is strong. Your event background and TEDx speaking background is huge.

To be honest I was sort of set back when she said “Your voice and platform in the black community is strong.” I wanted to say, “Sweetheart, my voice and platform is strong in ALL the communities.” I let it slide…

Why do we do this? Why do we shy away from correcting white women. Why is this so uncomfortable for Black Women?

Long story short I removed myself from the event. Not because of those words. But because of Dallasites 101 involvement. (which is another blog on another day)

So I’m scrolling through IG-take a peek at Lushra’s page…and I see no diversity. I see no signs of the event this brand was so adamant about hosting. And I said something.

IMG_4210.jpeg

Inconsistency + insincerity

When I said something…I shook the table. But you know the funny thing about the table is. I can build the table. I can bring people to the table. I can shake the table…Hell I can even turn the table upside down. This is so important that we realized we do not have to wait to be included at others table. Build your damn own.

I made a post about 3 Days ago. You can find it here. And I shared that the buzz was dying down. I could feel it, I could see it. I mentioned “Im not seeing the pretty little balloon company Lushra create that “Event for Change” they were so passionate about doing 7 weeks ago.

I explained I’m not seeing the “movement’ so many were saying they were committed to being part of. Proving it was a moment. And its not a moment.

IMG_4209.jpeg

White Women do not like to get called out.

And they do not like you to call their friends out. Immediately Cammie of Beautiful Event Rentals made a comment on the post. The reason for her comment was “I’m taking up for my friend. Because nobody else was.”

Don’t get me wrong its a beautiful thing to defend your friends. The issue I had with Cammie…was her attempt to try to Deflect & being Tone Deaf to my words & valid feelings. (The Gaslighting came later)

IMG_4206.jpeg

Brands, Influencers, Bloggers, Businesses etc. Must be held accountable. Even if those people happen to be your “friends” Standing up for peoples inconsistencies and insecurities when it comes to Diversity, Equality, Racism, Identity and Race. I will no longer tolerate.

So I shared the text message Cammie sent me to my stories. Immediately she called me a bully. Because I posted HER words. Not words I made up, not words I wrote, but hers. I also called her a couple of times before I posted them on my Stories. She declined to pickup. Because she said, “I was with my kids getting them ready for the day” (Yet she was still commenting and engaging with my stories (this she had time for)

White FRAGILITY…

Playing the victim is always common in these situations. I was “talking back” She ended the conversation (well I thought it had ended) by saying, It was sad to see me have time to blast people who don’t deserve it.

She Deserved It.

The following day, Sunday when I hosting my floral workshop I received the notification below:

Adjustments.jpeg

That’s right my account was reported for Bully/Harassment. The IG stories… had triggered this person. Please know holding people accountable for their words do not equal being a bully.

For so long Black people have had to bite their tongue. Mind their words and make sure they say the right thing. Not only black people. People of Color period.WOMEN ESPECIALLY

Today.. Monday at 10:07am I was informed by D Magazine that a fake profile on Instagram had been made and followed them. The page was called theimanproject_is_ a_ bully.

Of-course it was a fake page. And my tribe came through VERY quickly.
TRUE examples of what a White Ally is filled my email, DMs & Text messages.

Adjustments.jpeg

I’m writing this blog right now for many reasons. But the number one reason is because I want people to stop being afraid to speak up. To show up even when you know and do recieve backlash. Your voice is your power. Use it. Even when it shakes. Use it.

White People…Listen to Black People.

I say over and over again. We can only grow if we

Listen. Learn & Unite

IMG_4207.jpeg

i’m Tired

I’m a fighter. I always have been. I was molested when I was 7. Raped when I was 13. Beaten for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner in my early 20s by my ex. In & out of Prison/Jail MULTIPLE times. Homeless & much more. That did not break me. A fake IG page will not break me. But I am tired. I am exhausted. But has my beautiful friend of GAIA For Women reminded me: You are built to handle the pressure that comes with your calling.

Adjustments.jpeg

I am strong. I will not stop. I will keep fighting for myself. And for those who may not have the strength to do so right at this moment. Because this is my calling.

Plant Parenthood

IMG_2143.jpeg

Plant Care is Self Care…

Plants make people happy… I think right now, we all need a little more happiness. Studies show that plants can reduce mental fatigue and stress, while increasing relaxation — it’s that little piece of nature that can make a difference in your day. For a while I have been wanting a plant bar in my house. I had this barcart forever from Target but never used it as an actual bar. So it just set in my garage. I would walk past it and be like, “I can definitely use it for something else.”

Growing up my mom had a lot of plants. I would remember misting & watering them all the time. At first it was a chore. Then it became something I loved. Little did I know they would become my oasis.

Your Home is your sanctuary

IMG_2086.jpeg

Our lifestyle studios, Little House on Routh & Little House of Bishop Arts are filled with Plants. But my own home…nada. And as we know we are all spending a lot more time at home.

So all plants came to my “actual” house instead of the “Little Houses” As you can see some got a little loving in the sink, this morning. P.S The sink & the tub is the best place to give your plants all the watering love.

Iam constantly getting text messages & DMs asking me about my plants. As well as where you should buy them. Also questions about which plants would be best for your home.

Adjustments.jpeg

Above you will find 10 plants for all our new plant parents out there. Fall in love with them, because they are your friends. Ok now to the cool part. Well I mean cooler part. I want a plant, where should I go. Right now due to COVID-19 we are experiencing Shelter in Place. So we love the fact we can get our plants in the mail. Oh you didn’t know? This is totally a thing. Duh. Forget CBD oil & crystals. These plant shops offer something more mundane: the delight of growing things delivered to your door.

Productive does’t Equal your worth…

“I’m overwhelmed.... I don’t know where to start? I feel like I have so much in my head and so many ideas. And I’m always complaining about not having time and now I have all the time in the world.“

Words I texted Katie this past Friday. Just moments after I scrolled my To-Do List in my notes that seems to get longer & longer each day.

Adjustments.jpeg

To Do List

  1. Date Night Blog

  2. Plant Blog Post

  3. Work on Plant Cart

  4. Next Weeks Newsletter

  5. Podcast To-Do List

  6. Letter for Vendors

  7. Coping with Coronavirus

  8. #WFH With Kids Blog

  9. Home School Reality

  10. Shop Small Blog List

  11. Edit Stickers

  12. Send Letters

  13. Work on Cookbook

  14. Where is the Book Bree?

Hell Friday’s newsletter just went out 2 hours ago and I was already talking about being behind for next weeks newsletter. Why in the heck is my To-Do List so long? (I didn’t list everything) Oh & my fav, where is the book Bree. LMAO

Like I am really looking myself in the mirror saying, “Get your shit together, you are slacking Bree.” On top of the “To-Do List” you don’t see the DIY things. Home Cooked Meals that are being made for a family of 5. Yes 5 because my father lives with us too.

The“Homeschooling” that I’m two seconds away from saying “What about that rap career Kai & Kael” Don’t worry about school

Adjustments.jpeg

All you see.....all you hear is STAY BUSY, BE PRODUCTIVE.

Well I’m going to say it…

STOP TRYING TO BE PRODUCTIVE

Yep I said it! Whew! Dang that feels good. Oh I know there are some reading this right now that are probably like “Wow she is so Lazy.”

Well #SorryNotSorry I’m not.

Honestly there is so much noise around us. So many people & things telling us what to do. Social Media, The Internet, TV etc constantly giving us

  • TO-Do’s

  • How-To’s

  • Challenges

And telling us we have ALL the time in the world right now. So do more, be more. I mean you have the time right?!?

Let’s see I need to Marie Kondo my entire home. Join a Peloton group or make sure I take a virtual workout class to stay in shape. Make sure I am sitting at the computer to watch a Live Q & A, about how I need to do more and cope with everything. Which 80% of the time takes place when I’m suppose to home-school my twins. One with Autism & one with Dyslexia.

Which is a whole different topic. That I will touch on. Wait, actually I will touch on a bit right now. Just had the first week of the boys school and yeah....NO. The amount of emails 40+ in one day. Notifications average of 60 and the zoom calls. It was a shit show- and we officially skipped a couple of days

IMG_1755.jpg

Long story short, it was tough enough to be productive when times were good. Let alone during a GLOBAL crisis. So if you feel like you are not being productive.

Stop beating yourself up about it.

I read this recently from Chris Bailey, Author “Hyperfocus: How to Manage Your Attention in a World of Distraction.” “The idea that we have so much time available during the day now is fantastic, but these days it’s the opposite of a luxury. We’re home because we have to be home, and we have much less attention because we’re living through so much.

Guys we are going through a lot. A LOT.

And it’s stuff that isn’t normal. We feel as though every minute of our life has to be productive. Even during these times. And honestly this just adds more stress to our life.

Lives that have not adjusted to the new normal.

We are dealing with a lot right now. Accept that. We are loosing Jobs, loosing money. Trying to figure out how to be keep food on our tables. Care for our children & other loved ones. Trying to be a good companion or spouse. Making sure we are being a good friend. Trying to keep up with all the news. Wear a mask don’t wear a mask. Stay in the house to April 30....wait I mean May 20th.

Gosh! It’s all so much.

Adjustments.jpeg

Be kind……

More then ever that cute “IG Post” that’s trendy, colorful and that states BE KIND is needed.

But not only to others....to ourselves. Each one of us dealing with these uncertain times differently. And each one of us have no experience to deal with these times. Remember some may cope with these times entirely different from you. Productive may be their middle name. But this doesn’t mean you are less, because unproductive is yours.

And if you are very productive and you can do all the challenges, do all the IG Lives & the How-To’s & To-Do’s. Me writing this blog is not to diminish the work you do, or even have to do. It’s simply to remind myself and others. It’s still OK to not have it all figured out. Even with all the time in the world.

Sorry not sorry…I am O B S E S S E D with Date Nights. Carlos and I have them weekly. I always say that you should never stop dating. For a long time Carlos and I took Date Nights for granted. We stopped dating. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the everyday hustle & bustle of life, that you forget what date night feels like. I always refer to our period of date "less" nights, as "we forgot how to Dance". So we started going out dancing & "dating" again. Ladies & Gents, Date Nights are our Jam. I am even more in love with them, when they are in our "neck of the woods". So many believe that in order to have a fun date night, you must head to Dallas.

Ummm NOT TRUE #duh.

Times have changed ladies & gents. And there are some cool happenings when you head north on Dallas North Tollway. So much going on like the beautiful & booming Legacy West. Legacy West is a lush urban destination lined with coveted retail, dining, residential, hotel and office spaces. It is the modern neighborhood destination – where you need to be. And I am going to tell you why. Carlos and I recently had the most amazing Date Night there last month. Actually it started with a Date "Day" that led into a Date Night.

Let me upgrade you…

That’s the really cool part about Legacy West. It is the perfect destination for your date day, night or both. Being the home of Renaissance Legacy West Hotel you can certainly upgrade your Date Night to a stay-cation. This is a huge date night do for us, to get a hotel room. One of our other traditions of Date Night is for it to be multi-destination sort-of thing. Something that both of us take turns on planning. I will be honest, Carlos is much better at this then me. I love when I get that text while he is at work saying, "Ok here is the plan…do you like that plan?" It makes my heart smile.

I am a sucker for room service. It’s my happy place, always has been. I remember in the movie Tombstone, Kurt Russel who played Wyatt Earp, asked Josephine what her idea of Heaven was. She replied…Room Service. (A Woman after my own heart.) Let me tell you, Room service at Renaissance Legacy West is M A G I C A L. Carlos had the 44 Farms New York Strip with Cauliflower. I had the 44 Farms Beef Tartare which was the perfect combination of Capers|Shallots|Green Tomato|Parmigiano-Reggiano|Potato Chips. Of-course room service is not complete without Dessert. And a Caramel Mousse Bar was on the menu. Let’s just say our bellies were smiling.

Happy Hour is Every hour…

After spending a little time in our hotel suite, we headed to Earl’s Legacy West to grab a couple of cocktails. I have always been a fan of Earl’s. They are the perfect spot for Happy Hour.. I love a Happy Hour Menu with a beautiful combination of sips & bites. And Earl’s Kitchen + Bar is the MVP in this category.

Carlos had the Black Tea Peach Sour & Don Julio Margarita. I had the Strawberry Rhubarb Fizz (it was pink of course) and the Coconut Mint Margarita. They were all so refreshing and the perfect addition to our evening.

Eat a little…. Eat a lot

I love the subtle reminder on Earl’s Kitchen & Bar on their plates. Let’s just say we did both… our White Truffle Garlic Cheese Bread & Buffalo Cauliflower (V) was to die for. Carlos is not a veggie person and he could not stop eating the Buffalo Cauliflower. All so delicious and fresh. I honestly could not stop dipping the bread in the truffle.

After a few bites we noticed the fireplace on the patio, took our drinks out there. And it really was the perfect setting. Just to chat & catch up on all the things going on. I may or may not of taken Carlos drink. Sorry not sorry.

Still going….duh

Our final destination was Kai Restaurant & Lounge. We sat on the patio that is perfect year round. We didn’t have drinks here…this was "actually" our dinner location, if you can believe it our not. I’m a huge sushi fan. Carlos still thinks California rolls is real sushi. But the best thing about Kai, they have something for everyone on the menu. So we were both very satisfied. The menu is amazing and there are so many delicious choices. But we narrowed down to the Lobster Tempura (Carlos' Fav) I had the Steve Roll and the KAI roll.

This Date Day & Night was perfect. I am a strong believer in Date Nights and always will be. I know that it is very easy to place date nights at the bottom of your priority list. But let's change that today. And to help get you started, we think its only fair that YOU experience what we did. So we are offering one lucky winner the perfect Legacy West Date Night. You will enjoy drinks at Earl’s, dinner at KAI, and a night’s stay at the Renaissance Hotel in their deluxe suite with complimentary room service. Cheers to that, friends! Make sure you head over to your IG page @theimanproject to officially enter. The giveaway will run from Feburay 12-14 and Winner will be announced at 3:00pm on February 14th. Oh Hey Mama!

dallas-10-10-2019-just-because-110_original.jpg

Hey mama!! Motherhood is no joke right? Then you put work, owning your business, running a brand and a whole bunch of other stuff on top of that. You have a real party don’t you!?

One thing that motherhood really does need to run smoothly, is a tribe. And the thing about a tribe is it doesn’t have to be a huge gang. It can be 2 or 3 ladies, who lean upon one another and support one another.

I recently had the beautiful opportunity to be part of a event that happened here in Dallas. And guess what?! It focused on MOTHERHOOD. Im sorry but there are alot of events out there and not many of them focus on this. I mean you have your Wellness events (where everybody and their mama is working out like crazy) Then you have your plethora of millennial events that (#sorrynotsorry) have the same people sharing the same stories and not really showing any struggle or inspiration. Yet speaking on entrepreneurship, success and running a business. There is so many of the above here in Dallas, it is exhausting. So when I saw that HeyMama was coming to Dallas. Better yet when HeyMama reached out to me-I jumped on that train! And so glad I did.

Who & What is HeyMama?

HeyMama is the most badass league of mom-bosses you know. Whether they are advisors, executives, founders, or CEOs, our application-based membership provides support, connection, and collaboration for working mothers at every life stage.

The Challenge:
75% of expecting mothers say that they are excited to go back to work after giving birth, yet 43% of them end up leaving the workforce. This comes at a high cost to their careers, the companies they worked for,and the business landscape at large.

The Solution:
HeyMama seeks to build an ecosystem of working mothers who collaborate and empower one another to become the decision-makers around their work, life and family.

You know what I really did enjoy about the HeyMama event? The diversity of the event-was so dope. There are so many events lately that do not embrace diversity. When you look at panels or the stage everyone looks the same, or they have the same background. I’m sorry but this is not inviting. Diversity is beautiful and even more beautiful when we embrace it in our business, brand, family, friendships & fellowship.

Ok back to HeyMama this event was amazing! The setup was very welcoming. It was intimate and intentional. It took place at our fav spot. The Riveter Dallas (oh did you hear this is where our Grow & Glow: Women’s Workshop Retreat is taking place) It was a Mama Mentor event so beforehand all those that signed up were able to submit questions they had for their mentors. And then as a mentor we were invited to answer the questions and share what has worked for you. Also how we balance motherhood, family & business all at the same time.

The group of Mamas I had was A M A Z I N G . A group filled with women of different backgrounds, race, style, shape, idea & location. All there with the soul purpose of figuring this thing called motherhood & hustle out. I can’t wait for HeyMama to be here officially. Its going to be a grand old time #duh
